If this was actually written by Nora Roberts, I'll eat my hat. I suspect she has a James Patterson thing going where subpar authors write under her name, because this feels like it was written by a college student out to become Nora Roberts. The writing is a lot more stilted than typical, the flow is poor, the characters lack the normal depth. Roberts is a predictable one, and while that bores some people, its why I reach for her as a "break" in between other authors - her books are like a palate cleansers. This wasn't a palate cleanser, it was just a shallow dull story with mediocre writing.

Hidden Star The Stars of Mithra Nora Roberts 9780373484881 Books Reviews

I read this series several years ago, but picked up the series to read again. The second time was as wonderful as the first time. Nora Roberts always makes loveable characters in her novels, and this is true of this first book of the series.
Hidden Star was a bit slow to get started and Bailey seemed a bit of a weakling. Cade seemed to be too much of the protector of the "weak little woman with amnesia." The book got better as it went along, but it still not one of Nora Roberts best. There wasn't as much of the paranormal aspect as I assumed there would be--my assumption, not the fault of the author. All in all, just OK, and slightly entertaining.
This is a good, quick summer read. Not as good as some of Nora Roberts previous books but not bad either. I enjoyed it and liked the characters. Am starting the second one in the series, so it will be interesting to see if the plot gets better.
I hadn't read Nora Roberts in a long time. After I purchased this book, I was afraid that I'd already read it, even though it wasn't on my list of books that I've read by her. I read a few reviews that said she is re-releasing her books with different names, so you don't know if you've read it or not. But this one I had not read and enjoyed it very much. It ended with a cliff hanger - so I'm waiting for a good deal on book #2!
The opening grabbed my attention. The main characters were well described and intriguing. There are qualities of each that complemented the other, much like a good marriage.
I very much look forward to reading the rest of the trilogy and meeting Bailey's very different and interesting friends.
Bailey James walked into PI Cade Parris' office with a bag of money, a 38 cal. gun and a very large blue diamond. Problem is she has no memory of who she is or how she came to be in possession of these things. Cade is instantly in love with her and she feels a very strong attraction to him.
She has very dark nightmares that give her bits and pieces. She is afraid she has stolen the stuff, maybe killed someone and she wants Cade to help her find the answers before going to the police.Cade protects her, and going step by step, starts putting the pieces back together. Bailey is extremely honest and trusting. Cade believes she is innocent. Call it a hunch.
The blue diamond is one of three. She has mailed the other two to her two most trusted friends which has now placed them in danger. Someone wants those diamonds back at any cost. One person is already dead.
An interesting who-dun-nit. Book one in a series of 3. I would recommend it.
I'm normally a Nora Roberts fan, but this book was awful. I quit reading half way through, and I'm not a book quitter! The story would have been good, but the characters go from complete strangers to making out in an unbelievably short time. No character development and neither character likeable. The whole thing felt wrong. I don't recommend it.
