Alec lives a placid life after leaving the Avonellene Empire behind. In his mountain retreat he practices his energies and protects his neighbors, far from the politics and turmoil of life at court.
But politics comes calling, as his former duchy falls under the rule of a tyrant, and Alec decides to restore peace to the land he formerly ruled.
There are even greater threats arising in the world, and they will send their messengers to his own very doorstep, inciting death and chaos, and driving him to take a wild, dangerous sojourn through the unknown wilderness of the mountains to try to set a captive free, to gain revenge, and to inflict justice on the criminals who have disrupted Ridgeclimb's peace. But the journey will be complicated by the band of friends and companions he must take with him through the winter's bleak climate, trying to protect them from unknown dangers, as he considers the possibility that a band of renegade Ingenairii have come across the globe to his new home.

When I saw that "Caravan Road" was being sold I jumped at the offer and downloaded it immediately. I was surprised and pleased that another two books had been written for the Ingenairii Series. Finishing "Caravan Road" a great book, and now starting the "Journey Home" has me back into the life of Alec, his ingenairii powers and new adventures. To be honest I do not see why the author has to stop the series if he chooses not to. I will continue to read them and I am sure others will also. There have been some people who seem to be saying that this series was done a long time ago! I don't agree. Others have negatively mentioned that Quyle has included God in his story theme. Goodness, you would think that this was a sin or something! I say Bravo! I think Alec in the "Caravan Road" with new adventures and his new romance is great, the ingenairii powers are as usual original and unique and Quyles' writing is good. I recommend it. If your new to the Ingenairii Series why not start on the first book...Product details

The Caravan Road The Ingenairii Series Book 9 edition by Jeffrey Quyle Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I enjoyed the development of the main character. I specially liked how he discovers each power. I also enjoyed the fights and situations that arise and are solved sometimes unexpectedly. But his love and compassion are the main points for me.
To put it simply, this series should have ended along time ago. I, like most people, probubly expexted it to end when he saved the ingenairii from the Imp right?
Well nope, he comes back to life and doesnt use his time traveling powers to fix everything like it never happened (which he could have done in the first place...) Now, at this point i still had hope, i like the characters, and they brought emotion, but about halfway into that book, he kills off the final secondary character you came to know and care about. What does he do? He relaces EVERY one of them with their new, and lets face it, worse replacements.
i honestly found myself thinking other characters names when he talked about their replacement, and the entire replacement deel affects all their conversations making it feel more unnatural. ( i know im talknig about the entire series as a hole, may as well do it in the latest book.)
The author could have just as easily made the battle with the imp last 5 years, and still kill of the Queen just as easily, and just as emotionally, without the need to create an entire new cast of characters you dont care about.
And of course after this adventure, you find him with amnesia, wich is a pane when its a character youve already read 5 books about. He "discovers" his powers, which you already know about, no shocker. And of course, as always, good ol' Mark steps in to make the character LESS of the awesome character he is. The characters deep feelings towards god get in the way of the story, and make it seam liek the author is just using it as an excuse to keep the character weaker without having to make a side story for it.
After these adventures, in which he falls in love... Again (what it it now? 7 times?) the story cuts to a close without actually getting you to care about what happened, and al lthe people he helped.
And "Caravan Road" the newset book, is just the same, a story with characters you dont really care about, in a place you feel no attachment to, doing something that could easily have been done differently.
All these new stories the author uses feel like completely seperate stories he made, and he was just too lazy to think of a new main character to use. Dont get me wrong, i love this author, and the first 4 or so books, but at this point he's ust adding more stories that could have been their own entire series, with their own characters and backstory, but he keeps dragging the same guy out of retirement over and over again. It doesnt halp that its still called "The Ingenairii Series" for the last 3 books, when they arnt involved in any important way. He could have just cut the story into multiple sagas with the same main character, but instead he drags the series on and on.
But those are just my ramblings. I loved the early series, with its plots, intrige, powers, and a touch of romance, but going through the same romance 5 times isnt entertaining, its tedious and annoying. i can only hope the author ends the series and puts his considerable talant towords making other amazing stories, cause by golly ill buy the suckers, but this series has seen enough. (which really sucks, because "Caravan Road" could have been a pretty entertainnig book if it was original with new characters and backstory.)
At 500 years old, Alec is finally showing a little character development again. The first half of the book, for once, is all about Alec doing what he wants to do, instead of what God wants him to do. He also finally starts to experiment with the potential of all of the additional abilities that he has gained. Another nice change of pace is that the love interest angle takes a little more time to develop again, as he is disinclined to ignore his own age and start another inevitably painful relationship. All of this amounts to us getting to see a more confident, in a generally more mature way, and independent Alec that is finally over his orphan, unloved and isolated, angst. I'm not going to give this book 5 stars; because, Alec collapses from wounds, arrows, blunt trauma, power exhaustion, etc way too many times, but I still really enjoyed reading it. If you've gotten this far in the series, I would definitely recommend continuing on and enjoying this more stable version of Alec.
Of the entire series, I probably enjoyed this the most. The premise is wonderful and I love the clinic/healing bent to the book. It was very satisfying. Read this series, you'll love it!
This is a good book but not at the standards that the author has set in his prior books in this series. He plans one more, which I certainly will get but this series could have ended comfortably with his last book. Maybe I'll be wrong and the true series final will be great.
Repeating my opinion on other books in this series. I liked the first book, accepted the second one but am getting a bit bored by the following books in this series. Wizard loves one girl, sees another one, heals people, spend hours and hours in sword practice, loses girl and moans. The writing improved but the series is just too long and short on real change and character development.
